Recently, I had this vision of putting together a rooftop sunset shoot in Uptown Charlotte. (Yeah, I know…it’s been done before..blah blah blah.) I’ve been craving some sort of out of the norm photo shoot for myself, and I desperately wanted to play with light and movement. As I dreamed up this scheme, I could think of no better person than Sammie to be my beautiful subject!
I met Sammie (aka hullosam–green beauty influencer and blogger–look her up!) about a year ago through our mutual friend Mari, who was running a really rad green beauty blog at the time. Per the capability to be super Insta-stalky (is that a thing?), I saw that Mari was visiting Sammie in North Carolina, close to where my parents live in South Carolina. Because I had been wanting to meet more people in the area, I decided to go out on a limb and ask her if she and her husband, Davey, wanted to do a photo session, and she said, “yes!” It was a lovely time getting to know those two, and as we parted ways, I could only hope that we would be able to meet again.
Fast forward to this past week. A few days before I made the trek to my parents’ home to stay to second shoot a wedding in Raleigh, I messaged Sammie and basically word vomited my vision for this shoot. She again ecstatically said, “yes!”
We had an absolute blast atop the Queen City skyline while dancing, goofing off and laughing like complete weirdos (because, why not?!). On our way back home, we bonded over our shared love of good music and the rad city that is Charlotte.
I can’t wait to collaborate more with this gem in the future!
