When I first connected with Valentina and Anthony, one of the questions about this session was, “So…how adventurous do you want to be?” My response? “Well, I’m pretty adventurous, and love to hike, but I’m a bit out of shape, and I’ll be bringing two friends with me, so I can’t get too crazy!”
Y’all. We climbed a mountain. No, really. We hiked up a very steep side of Rumbling Bald, and once we reached a small cave, we climbed (with the assistance of a rope and Anthony, a professional mountain climbing instructor) up the walls, through a hole, and were “birthed” on to the mountainside. When we finally all made it to the top, I photographed Valentina and Anthony in an environment both love deeply and have climbed several times before. In fact, the sheer behind them you can see in the first photo Anthony has taken multitudes of climbers before!
I will be honest. I almost sobbed like a complete baby when I first surveyed the surrounding mountains and valleys. I always forget how incredibly close to God I feel when I am in places like Chimney Rock State Park and Rumbling Bald. I feel at home when I’m in nature.
I am so grateful that I get to do what I do–go on adventures with couples and capture their love.
Side note: I think I’m going to get into rock climbing. Who wants to do it with me?!
